all you need for 132mph

Bumped into this fella Keith yesterday. He reckoned he had a Lambretta that could do 132mph.. "yeah yeah" I said, " and my mate had a Vespa GS250 back in the day"... So then he rolls out this machine! ;)

Here is the Kursaal Flyer (the sequel)...

Well done Keith.

Trying to figure out how you could make such a big performance jump to do that top speed. Obviously there's the NOS system, but is that a foot-adjustable expansion chamber acting as a power-valve as well like the one on Lauro Falc's race boat?

I think the best thing about all this is seeing the old Kegra team back together again (inc Mikey's Grp4) and building fast scooters rather than just sitting and selling bits for mopeds all day. We just need to do the same with Webbo and Norrie now :D

132 mph in shorts... mental!

I love the fact that you've thrown down the gauntlet to the other top sprinters. We'll need to wait and see if you can repeat the promising start that you've had (or continuation of previous form, with a fairly long break in the middle) but I certainly hope that this is the start of more to come.

Well done and congrats.

Adam

PS - I'll never match that but it does make me want to dig out my project frame ;)

I think the real difference is in the fact that we went purely hunting for top speed, with a mile run all we had to do was make sure that it got hold of and pulled top gear when required, At the bottom end all the first gear had to do was get it rolling which surprised me with the amount of get up and go it actually had.The pacemaker box helping a lot in the getting going in top.My previous best top speed at Sculthorpe was achieved by over revving a 1/4 mile set up not a top speed set up.
The minor works in the aero dynamic field must have helped the front mudguard the wheel discs the rear seat style the handle bar cover(which is a section of aircraft engine inlet cowl) the fact we narrowed the handlebars by over four inchs to cut down the amount of air we needed to push out of the way.The KPS system we developed at Kegra put more MPH on the top ( like having four and a half gears ) and the fact it was revving it tits off.The favourable wind conditions, putting my head down and looking sideways to cut drag all the little things nothing to drastic. The lithe young pilot on board :!: I not sure but I dont think the NOS sticker made any difference. Last but not least I wanted to give myself a special birthday present one I would remember for a long long time, they say birthdays sort of mean nowt as you get older but for me I am going to remember this one for a long time.. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

congratulions to you brave guys! well done. is there a chance that you give us some more information on the engine, especially the gearing and the exhaust system?

ever considered to do the bonneville salt flats with this? in my opinion your bike must be in the class MPS-G wich reads modified partial stream lined gas (petrol, no methanol or else). if you`re downsizing to just under 175cc you need to do the 132mph again to brake the existing record, in the 250class its a lot more with 157mph. ore 158 with methanol. but it might be possible as the track is 8 miles. would be nice to see a scooter there that even can compete the bikes...

Please Please Pleeeese , can we have a LOT more tech spec on this bike.
I,m not a sprinter & not after competing against you - but I love owt like this.

Hows about some photos of the other side of the bike - ignition - carb - custom stuff - N.O.S. and the exhaust system.

Also on a totally diferent subject does anyone know of a good website or link to Rotary valve induction on lammys ???. Scootering did a good description and write up on it - years ago on the yellow kegra Grp 6 bike and I remember their bieng quite a few in the specials class back when I was racing 1980,s, but it seems to have died a death nowadays , any help on either subject and lots more on the sprinter much appreciated - sorry to sound like a boring petrol head :ugeek: but stuff like this gets me through a boring nite shift . ;)

I think Scootering are to do an interview and bike spec. There are more pics but I've held them back so Andy at scootering can do it properly and justice in the mag.
Re the disc valve.. well I have actually built that motor for Graham. He actually made two. One is sold and the other is still at Kegra. Keith of course knows the ins and outs of it too. But its down to Graham if he wants to discuss it in detail.
