Hey Minikin! Thanks for opening the topic...

According to the fact that eurochallenge.at doesn´t contain much more than the above flyer at the moment, I wanted to wait a few more days before going public in this forum...

Anyway, for a start I can provide you with some basic information on said event:
In 2010, other than the last few years, the “Austrian” race for the ESC is going to take place in Hungary on the kart-track of the "Pannoniaring" which is sort of a motorsports park, situated about 100 km south east of Vienna. Being fairly popular among Austrian (motorcycle-) trackday regulars the Pannoniaring offers a vast and professional infrastucture, for example:

- timing via trasponder
- W-LAN
- Petrol station (99+ octane)
- Tyre service
- Bar
- Restaurant
- Hotel
- Campsite

During the last ECS races in Austia where more than 250 spectator´s scooters were counted it became obvious that the event seemed fairly attractive to the average rally going scooterist. So this year´s "Holiday in Hungary" will also offer the full entertainment program of a traditional scooter rally including a ridden customshow and two northern soul/ska/mod allnighters.
But what I think makes this race meeting most attractive to British scooter racers is the fact that, apart from the ESC races on the kart track, you will have the opportunity to compete with the vanguard of Austrian, German and Italian riders on the very fast 4,7km SBK/GP-course in two races on Monday. The current track record on a scooter (low 2:30 time) is held by Robert Sega on a Gilera Runner. The official track record of 1:53,9 is held by Andy Meklau on a K6 GSX/R.

PROGRAM:

- 30 / 07: Arrival, free training (kart track) from 1 pm
- 31 / 07: Technical inspection, driver´s meeting 9:00 am, ESC qualifying from 10:00 to 12:00, ESC races from 1 pm, award ceremony 7:00 pm, allnighter from 10:00 pm
- 01 / 08: free training (kart track) from 9:00 am to 12:00 , 4 h race from 1 pm, ridden custom show from 1 pm, award ceremony 6:00 pm, allnighter fom 10 pm
- 02 / 08: free training (SBK course) fom 9:00 am to 10:00 am, first race from 11:30 to 12:00, second race from 1:30 to 2:00 pm, award ceremony 6:00 pm

To register for the 4h race or the race on the SBK course please contact Stoffi via e-mail: office@stoffis.com
If you want to compete in one of the ESC races see http://eurochallenge.vs.vserver.de/ for details

What a great line-up of events ! Pity we weren't aware of this before the UK race calendar was set up because for a weekend like this, it's worth the effort of getting there.

Well done Minikin and Signor Rossi

Doh! Image

Would have been nice to see some British riders competing with the mainland´s scooter-racing elite. After all no-one who witnessed the ´94 Eurochallenge at Brno will ever forget the faces of the Superbike and Supersports racers waiting for their slot after Mike Davis was clocked doing nearly 120 mph on the home straight on his little Italian shoppingbike...

The record was set during a race-weekend of the 2004 Trofeo Gilera Runner. For the Eurochallenge however, autos won´t be allowed as the grid is limited to 40 contestants. So it´s strictly geared scooters, sorry.

BTW: The above stated Mr. Sega, who has meanwhile successfully changed to Superbike racing, will bring his late ´90s spec group 6 Lambretta to try and set a new record...

Ok, I think I can make it to this one! :D Only around 10 hours drive in the van. I'll bring the Lambretta (road bike). Will there be a scooterists parade lap at some time? Camping? :)
